Description

My purpose is to provide an easy-to-use and informative location on the internet to inform patients about problems of the hip and knee and to explain modern methods of treatment. We offer treatments for conditions including Post-Traumatic Arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Inflammatory Arthritis, Dysplasia of the hip, and Avascular Necrosis (AVN). Fortunately, many hip and knee problems will respond to conservative measures of treatment, and we prefer to use these methods whenever possible. However, when these measures fail there are successful surgical options that can greatly relieve pain and restore function and mobility.

  • Dr. Newbern

    M.D.

Dr. Newbern has been practicing orthopaedics in Little Rock since 1992. His subspecialty training is in reconstruction of the hip and knee. After completing medical school at UAMS and orthopaedic residency at Georgetown University Medical Center, he completed fellowship training in hip and knee replacement at The Center for Hip and Knee Surgery in Mooresville, Indiana. The goal of his practice is to provide expert treatment of hip and knee problems with use of arthroscopy, partial (unicompartmental) and total knee replacement, total hip replacement, mini-incision hip replacement, realignment procedures (avoiding joint replacement), and revision hip and knee replacements (when the prosthesis has failed). Dr Newbern is consulted on unusually difficult joint replacement cases from around the state. His research articles have been published in the Journal of Arthroplasty. He performs over 400 joint replacement procedures per year. Dr. Newbern grew up in Little Rock and returned after training to practice here.
